An Expanded MidCentury

This is a private residence for a growing family in suburban Chicago.  The existing 1/2 acre property backs into a private country club.  With growing needs of family and work, the project's aim was to update this classic style to meet todays needs with as little disruption to the families daily routines.

Taking a phased approach, the project carefully adds a new guest room and home office on the north and an expanded master suite and new garage on the south while opening up the first floors compartmentalized layout with a new kitchen, dining and living room.

The exterior of the house will be re-insulated and clad with synthetic stucco and cement fiber board.  While preserving the basic profile of the home, new roof lines will further enhance its street presence while still respecting the neighborhoods overall context.
